Is mudjacking less expensive than concrete replacement?
Absolutely! Mudjacking cost will run you between one-half and one-third less than removing and replacing a concrete slab.
Why has my concrete sunken / no longer level?
In many cases, the cause of sinking concrete is mother nature. Over time, soil settles, erosion happens, and nature takes its toll, causing your once level concrete to shift and settle, especially in areas of the country where there is an annual freeze-thaw cycle, like Omaha. Other issues such as a leaking underground pipe or burrowing critters can also cause soil issues. The underlying shifting of earth will then cause the slab sitting atop it to move. Mudjacking can help level your concrete once again.
There is a “void” under my concrete. What does that mean?
A void is an empty space under the concrete caused by water or animals eroding the soil. This can lead to buckling, cracking, or settling of the above concrete.
Are rodents a reason why my concrete cracks and buckles?
Some burrowing animals love to tunnel under your driveways and sidewalk, which can lead to soil movement.
Should I just replace my concrete instead of mudjacking it?
Unless the concrete slab is cracked and damaged beyond the point of no return, mudjacking is a much more economical process. Not only does mudjacking cost far less than concrete removal and replacement, it takes much less time, and can be used almost immediately.
How long will mudjacking take?
Depending on the size of the area to be fixed, and how large the void it, mudjacking will take between an hour and a work day. However, once the process has been completed, you can walk on the slab immediately.
Do I have to be home during mudjacking?
So long as the slabs to be mudjacked are exterior, such as sidewalks, driveways, patios or front steps, you do not need to be present. However, if the slab in question is an interior slab like a garage floor, someone needs to at be home while the work is being done.
Can you explain the mudjacking process?

Will there be a lot of noise or dust and debris?
The pumps used for mudjacking make about the same amount of noise as a lawnmower, and there is some noise with the drills used for the holes as well. Drilling the holes will create some dust, however if a saw is needed for the concrete, there will be more. That dust however can be lessened by using water during the process.
How much space will you need for my project?
How much space we need depends on how much work your need done. Give us a call or send a message to get a better estimate of space needed for your situation.
Will mudjacking damage my yard? Sprinklers?
For the most part, your yard will remain unscathed by the mudjacking process. However, if your yard is very wet from rains or sprinkles, there may be some slight surface damage caused by the weight of our equipment.
Is it possible for my concrete to crack when mudjacking?
Cracks can appear during the mudjacking process, however these cracks are not caused by the process. Some concrete, as it sinks, gets small cracks on the bottom that are not necessarily visible from up top. When moved, this crack could increase in size. By using experienced, professional mudjackers, the likelyhood of cracking is minimal.
How many holes will be drilled?
The number of holes depends on the size of the area being leveled and the way in which the concrete has moved.
Will the new concrete patches match the existing?
We will do our best to match your concrete, however new concrete is lighter by its nature. As concrete ages, it stains and darkens, meaning the new patches on top will likely be lighter. However, as the patches also age, they will better match your existing slab.

What are the risks if I don’t mudjack?
Sinking, tilted and buckling slabs can cause several problems, depending on where they are. Improper water flow away from your home can lead to foundation issues. Uneven sidewalks and patios can be a tripping hazard. Gaps between slabs can become welcome areas for critters to burrow or nest. And not fixing sinking slabs can lead to further sinking and potential cracked and damaged slabs.
How can I prevent sinking or cracking concrete?
By making sure that all seams and cracks on your slab are sealed, you can prevent outside water damage. Also, ensuring that your underground plumbing is in working order will prevent water from pooling. All ground should slope away from your home to allow for water drainage.
Can you lower concrete slabs?
Mudjacking can only be used to raise concrete slabs, however mudjacking can be used to raise adjacent slabs to the same height as the others to create a level surface. Concrete grinding can be used to reduce the height of some concrete slabs.
Can you level my concrete if tree roots have caused it to buckle?
If the tree root has directly lifted the concrete slab, it will not be able to be lowered. However, if the root has caused soil movement or displacement, mudjacking or cement grinding can be used to level the cement once again.
What is concrete grinding? When is it used?
Concrete grinding is just what it sounds like: we grind, or shave, down the height of the slab by removing some of the cement. Grinding is a good solution for slabs that cannot be leveled by the mudjacking process. And once again, like mudjacking, grinding is a less expensive solution than concrete replacement.
How long will mudjacking services last?
Omaha Mudjacking Pros uses a product that is a mixture of crushed rock that will not deteriorate or settle, meaning the results will last for years to come. In some cases, the soil may erode or shift again, but the concrete can be easily adjusted using the same holes.
